Meet Tommy

Production manager

"Seeing my employees grow and take on more responsibility over time gives me great satisfaction."

Tommy is one of our production managers at our factory in Vinderup. He has overall responsibility for the portioning and deboning processes. He ensures that we work in alignment with our prioritized KPIs: safety, quality, delivery, yield, and efficiency. Together with his team — which includes two department managers and six assistants — Tommy uses “AST – Active Supervision Tour” as a leadership tool to ensure visible and proactive management, so the potential of every employee is utilized.

What tasks do I have at ROSE POULTRY?

As production manager in the portioning and deboning area, I’m responsible for the factory’s busy “engine room.” We take over the slaughtered chickens from the slaughterhouse and our job is to portion and debone them into the many different sizes and cuts that both internal and external customers need continuously around the clock.

This work is carried out on the night and day shifts by about 150 employees, spread across 13 very different processes. Every day we handle around 1,000 product weigh-outs. Together with my team, I help ensure that we deliver daily in accordance with our five KPIs. We use them to support decision-making both in the short and long term. Many decisions are made throughout the departments every day, and it's my responsibility to ensure those decisions align with our goals.

What do I personally get out of the job?

Seeing my employees develop and gradually take on more responsibility for themselves and their processes gives me great personal satisfaction. At ROSE POULTRY, there’s plenty of opportunity to make an impact — you’re part of an organization that is always evolving and constantly moving toward new goals. That means there are always exciting new challenges to tackle.

The most important reasons why I work at ROSE POULTRY?

I started at ROSE POULTRY over 8 years ago, and I still look forward to coming to work each morning. What brings me job satisfaction is the opportunity to influence and develop our departments — both on the technical side and in terms of employee development, which contributes to the overall growth of the business.

Your input is valued here, and we’re good at finding common ground in pursuit of the best overall solutions. I also have several tasks that go across the company, and I thrive on that. We have a great sense of camaraderie in the production management team. We know each other’s strengths and weaknesses, we challenge each other in a constructive way, and I always have people to spar with when making decisions. In addition, I work with a well-functioning departmental team where we share the same values: Inspire, Lead, Care & Deliver — values that align with those of ROSE POULTRY. That value foundation helps keep the team strong, even when we face challenges.

Development

At the end of 2023, Tommy was promoted to Factory Manager, now responsible for around 550 employees in Vinderup. At ROSE POULTRY, we actively work on employee development. Through focused talent development and internal mobility, we are committed to cultivating new leaders, assistant managers, and specialists from within our own ranks.
