Meet Ole

Production employee

"Varied tasks and great opportunities for growth are why I’m still here after 16 years."

Ole is a production employee on the evening shift in our sausage department. He works with cooked products used in chicken salads, rolled chicken cubes, and more. In addition to his production tasks, Ole also serves as a health and safety representative. He handles the entire value chain – from raw materials to finished products. He mixes ingredients according to various recipes, fills casings with the finished mixture, and packs products for customers. He’s also an important part of our backup team, which helps out in different departments. This includes cleaning tubs and crates, warehouse tasks, freezing duties, and handling animal feed. Ole primarily works on the evening shift with about 15 colleagues.

What are my daily tasks at ROSE POULTRY?

I work on producing 4.5 kg sausage rolls for salad factories in Denmark and chicken hotdog sausages. Most of these are exported – especially to the Middle and Far East – but also to Sweden, which is a growing market.

My colleagues and I in the department are like octopuses – we help out wherever needed. That could be in the packing hall, hanging uncooked sausages on racks to go into the oven, or working at the peeling machine to remove the skins. A bit of everything. Sometimes we’re also loaned out to other departments when they’re short-staffed or need help.

What do I personally get out of the job?

My job is very diverse. The varied tasks challenge me, which I really enjoy. I also have a great manager who listens, nudges me to grow, and ensures that I keep developing in my role.

I applied for the evening shift about 16 years ago because the hours suited my lifestyle. I had just finished basic training as a waiter and was looking for a job. I applied here more or less by chance, thinking it would just be temporary. But unlike the hospitality industry, this job offers regular hours, fixed workdays, and a steady pace – which fits my work style perfectly.

Why have I stayed at ROSE POULTRY for 16 years?

The main reasons I’m still here are the steady job, the varied responsibilities, and the great opportunities for growth. For example, a few years ago, I became a health and safety representative. That has brought new and additional tasks, as well as valuable knowledge about how we maintain a safe and healthy work environment. The canteen arrangement is also a big plus – it gives me a varied daily diet. And the employee sales – they help keep my expenses down.
